Statement of direction

  • The Steering committee has asked us to provide a statement of direction to be announced with the Jakarta EE 9.1 release
  • Action for all this week:
    • Review the issue
    • Comment
    • Scott will incorporate result after discussions
    • Will be presented at the Steering Committee on May 11

  • Scott will create an issue
  • Creation/Plan review PR:
  • Ivar will update the PR:
    • “To provide a profile that contains a set of Jakarta EE Specifications targeting smaller runtimes suitable for microservices and ahead-of-time compilation.”

Architectural Guidelines Document

  • Should this be a part of the specification? Requirements or Guidelines?
    • Items that result in TCK tests must be considered to be part of the spec

Version/Release Strategy Discussion

  • Establishing a release cadence?
  • Will vendors accept time-boxed releases
  • Is there a conceptual issue with releasing Core Profile 10 independent of the Platform 10?
  • Scott will create a document linked to the issue for discussing versioning options
