Versioning Schemes for Platform & Profile Specifications

  • Scott sent a msg to the platform list
    • The conversations ought to continue in the thread to enable the Platform call next week to be more effective.
  • Discussion:
    • What is the correct time frame for time box focus?
    • Suggestion:
      • Full Platform time boxed to 2 year release cadence for Major releases
      • Web Profile, Core Profile, ++ release minor in between if there are enough specs ready
      • Make Milestones publicly available (as a preview of what’s coming)?
    • How to handle releases of individual specifications? Support, marketing.
    • Whatever road is chosen, how does it affect or enhance innovation through diversity to avoid Vendor lock-in patterns?
    • Goals for a given time box for major release

EE10 Direction Statement
